primary groin hernia repairs and how they differ
from hernias in male patients

Groin Hernias in Women

Conclusions:

Groin hernias in women differ from those in men in respect of symptoms
and age incidence. Direct inguinal hernias in this series were more common than
has previously been reported.
Persistent groin pain in wonmen, without any palpable lump, should arouse
suspicion of an occult hernia.
The vast majority of women with a groin hernia presented with a palpable swelling.
The Lichtenstein repair for inguinal hernia and a mesh plug repair for elective
femoral hernia gives excellent results.
