According to the answers you have given us, what you appear to have is, for us, a  straight-forward case. You say you are in good shape and have what we call a primary, reducible hernia. You can have this hernia repaired by most general surgeons around the world but the techniques, skill and experience levels - and outcomes - will vary by a wide margin.  You would not even need a bed after the operation! 

After we are done, you will simply get up and walk out of theatre, have a cup of coffee and a bite to eat, read the paper for a while and then you will be able to get up, climb stairs, ride an exercise bike, or whatever. 

Thereafter, as you do not have the previous need to fear pulling the repair apart (ie cause a recurrence) or the debilitating post-operative pain or discomfort, you will be encouraged to be as active as you like, as soon as you like. That includes most sport, work and recreational pursuits. 

The cost would probably be £ 1,850, including everything and the waiting time for this particular operation is usually under two weeks (we do them all day, every day).
