According to the answers you have given us, what you appear to have is, for us, a  straight-forward case. You say you are in good shape for your age and build and have what we call a primary, reducible hernia. You can have this hernia repaired by most general surgeons around the world but the techniques, skill and experience levels - and outcomes - will vary by a wide margin. Thereafter, as you do not have the previous need to fear pulling the repair apart (ie cause a recurrence) or the debilitating post-operative pain or discomfort, you will be encouraged to be as active as you like, as soon as you like. That includes most sport, work and recreational pursuits.
